LINDSAY

OHSE

Soprano Lindsay Ohse continues to illuminate four centuries' worth of repertoire with her "dazzling and crystal clear" voice. This season, Ms. Ohse returns to Opera Orlando for the title role in Cendrillon, a role she previously sang with Opera Company of Middlebury in 2019.  She reprised her Papagena for a third time in the holiday production of The Magic Flute with the Metropolitan Opera, and will perform a concert of the Wesendonck Lieder and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Duluth Symphony. Next season, she will sing Despina in Così fan tutte with Minnesota Opera.

With the Metropolitan Opera, she recently sang Naomie in Cinderella as well as two runs of the role of Bekhetaten in the critically acclaimed Akhnaten.  Also with the company, she has covered Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, the Crowned Child in Macbeth and Clorinda in La Cenerentola.  Ms. Ohse joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera in 2018 covering Shadow 2 in the US premiere of Nico Muhly's Marnie.

She has sung many bel canto heroines, most recently as Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Anchorage Opera this past season, a role she has also sung with Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre. Her performance was critically acclaimed as “enchanting; both range and acting skills shone brightly. Her vocals seemed effortless, especially in her gorgeous final aria, “Prendi.”” (American Presswire) Other leading ladies include Norina in Don Pasquale (Anchorage Opera, Brava Opera Theatre) and the title role in Norma with Opera Southwest (the opera's New Mexico premiere). Known for her interpretations of Rossini, she has sung Countess Adele in Le comte Ory with Opera Southwest, Amenaide in Tancredi with Baltimore Concert Opera and Opera Southwest, and  a “consummate” performance as the title role in Semiramide with Baltimore Concert Opera and Opera Delaware (Newsworks.) She also sang Serpetta in La serva pedrona with Opera Southwest.

In contemporary repertoire, Ms. Ohse sang the role of Marian in The Music Man with Anchorage Opera in 2023. She also sang 1st Niece in two iterations of the new production of Peter Grimes with Bayerische Staatsoper in 2022, and recently sang the role of Eliza in Dark Sisters with OrpheusPDX, for which performance Opera Magazine wrote: “Ohse’s creamy voice turned edgy when she tried to question the Prophet and assert her individuality… She consistently struck just the right inflection that highlighted her predicament and generated a lot of sympathy for her character.” Other roles include Governess in The Turn of the Screw, Thérèse/Tirésias in Les mamelles de Tirésias, Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Ann Putnam in The Crucible. She also covered Angel in the New York premiere of Angels in America (New York City Opera).

Operatic highlights include Musetta in La bohème (Annapolis Opera, Anchorage Opera), Violetta in La traviata (Opera Delaware/Opera Baltimore), Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Sarasota Opera), Gilda in Rigoletto (Opera Orlando), Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (El Paso Opera), Sandrina in La finta giardiniera (Portland Opera), Alice in Falstaff (Intermountain Opera), the title role in Gluck's Eurydice (Portland Opera), Marie in La fille du régiment (Opera North), and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Opera Southwest). In concert, she has performed as the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with Naples Philharmonic and the Fresno Philharmonic, and has appeared as a soloist in galas with Inner Northwest Opera and the Gainesville Orchestra.

Ms. Ohse participated in the young artist programs at Santa Fe Opera, where she covered the role of Lu Mu-zhen in Sun Yat-Sen.  During her residency with Portland Opera, she sang Armida in Rinaldo and the leading role of Maria Celeste in Galileo Galilei.  She was part of the apprentice artist programs at Sarasota Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera.
